Recently a long awaited event took place at the famous Ramblas in Barcelona. A new and eclectic place, with the signatures of a number of famous Catalans, opened doors. Objective of this place, based in the cellar of the beautifull building Liceu, is to give to the visitor a Catalunya experiece, both in a cultural as in a gastronomical way.

It has to be said, the place is very well designed and the first impression has a certain, almost Dineyworld like,  ¨wow¨ factor. The problem is that behind that facade there is very little left to impress. The place lacks ambiance, the food and wine experience is not really any different from what you can find in most restaurants, only the portions are much smaller!

The staff tries really hard to make something out of it, but if you really want a Barcelona experience you might consider doing something else: Want to experience culture? then go to a museum or visist one of the many Gaudi objects. Want to experience some great food? go to one of the many good restarurants and tapas bars the city has to offer, you´ll find decent portions for a reasonable price.

Worth trying is the ice-cream bar just beside the entrance. It is a copy of the famous Jordi Roca icecream bar ¨Rocambolesc¨in Girona. Jordi Roca is well known for his famous pastries in the top restaurant Celler de Roca.
