Exploring the worlds leading winebars we went to Singapore. Maybe you think it’s hard to find a winebar or shop in Singapore, but let me tell you, Singapore knows how to enjoy a fine glass of wine In Style!!..Especially in ClubStreet or Ann Siang Hill area. Closed to traffic on Friday- and Saturdaynights, you can spend some time here wandering  from winebar,to small restaurants or clubs and back to a winebar again, and everywhere you can sit outside on a small terrace or inside,  all very European like decorated.  Of course we tried a few of them, starting with Ô Batignolles with a glass of champagne. Here they have an extended winelist by the glass or by the bottle. Then we made our way uphill in the small street and went to Drinks&Co winebar. Drinks&co doesn’t have a regular winelist but you can choose your wine from the stands like browsing a wineShop for your favorite wine. Just take out a bottle and go to the counter to buy your wine. Take a seat outside or inside at one of their winetables and a waiter will bring the choosen wine at the right temperature at your table. (they have big wineclosets in the back with all the wines from the shop, where they take out the wine you choose so  it has the right temperature to drink) We had a very nice, aromatic Roussanne from Australia, with lots of body, caramel and pear.

That’s another thing, Beause Asian people Love French wines, they are very popular and also very expensive. Remember that Singapore is also close to new world wines such as Australian, New Zealand and Tasmania, and they also produce very good, fine but more affordable wines. And lots of those aren’t available in Europe, so try to choose one of them!

If you are really only into wines from Europe then walk up the street to Beaujolais Wine Bar, where on the terrace  it’s like you are sitting in France or Italy in a small bar, looking down on the crossroad of Ann Siang Hill where all the people meet up for a fancy night in the town.
